It may be Fall in New York but campers are still at risk of sun exposure during the warm afternoons of September and October. Sometimes even more so during these months than in the summer because we don’t realize we are spending as much time in the sun as we do. The days are cooler and we spend time soaking up those last rays of summer. It’s a time we tend to forget all about applying sunscreen.
There’s a new trend in choosing natural products for sunscreen and some of these are very effective in protecting our skin. Some things to look for in a natural sunscreen.
These are good for your skin and they protect your body against free radicals. They protect against UV radiation that can damage your skin.
research is showing there are several natural oils that can be good for your skin and protected from the sun as well. Some you might like to consider our almond oil, coconut oil, red raspberries seed oil, and Shea butter. Several of these also contain anti-inflammatories which assist in keeping your skin from getting red or blistering.
Your sunscreen should be applied regularly throughout the day, at least every two hours in the middle of the afternoon. Most of these are not waterproof so you need to make a special effort to reapply if you’ve been sweating or swimming. It can be enjoyable to make your own sunscreen because you can add fragrances that you love to make them small nice and you have the comfort of knowing what’s in the product we’re using.
