Some people like to stay at the campground the whole time they are here and others like to explore the surrounding area. For the wanderers, we have plenty of options. You can spend as much or as little time as you like and always return to your comfy campsite and a nice evening around the campfire.
For fishing you can find most anything you like in the Ausable River. Fly fishers get Brook Trout and anglers can go for the Bass. There are local charters to take you out or you can take your own boat. A day of fishing is a good day and there is plenty of that waiting for you here.
For history buffs there are museums such as the Adirondack Museum which is an open air museum or the 1812 Homestead and Farm Museum which provides us a look at rural life in the early 19th century.
You can hike, swim, go canoeing or kayaking, and maybe travel the Adirondack Coast Wine Trail. You’ll find plenty to sample and may take home some new favorites once you taste the apple and honey wines we make here.
You can shop, dine, and play golf in Westport. The views are incredible and the people are welcoming. If you find yourself wondering what to do or where to go, just ask. We’ll be happy to give you some ideas of where to explore once you leave the campground. We’ll see you later as you come back to settle in for a night under the stars.
